Association for Children with Life-threatening or Terminal ConditionsACT (Association for Children with Life-threatening or Terminal Conditions
and their Families) aims to provide information on support services available
for families whose children have life-threatening or terminal conditions,
regardless of the particular diseases involved. It is involved in consultation
and contact between service providers and campaigns to encourage the
development of children's palliative care services. ACT's activities include
the following. - Publication of The ACT Charter, which sets down standards now widely
adopted in this country and abroad.
- Development of a national information resource of specialist contacts and
literature.
- Conferences and seminars on care and best practice.
- Advising on and influencing policy and service development.
- Produced and published the world's first definitive report on children's
palliative care.
