ADA READING SERVICES FOR
THE BLINDADA Reading Services for the Blind aims to help people with a visual
handicap. The service was set up 20 years ago with the aim to help all those
people who may be left out of the system including the elderly, people with
hobbies, and those wishing to continue employment. The service is simple and free. The service supplies cassettes of a wide
range of material including fiction (although this is well covered by a
separate organisation, CALIBRE). Examples of material include: knitting
patterns, church magazines, national publications, publications from groups and
associations, and specialist hobby magazines. Those interested should contact the Service by telephone or letter to ensure
that the reading can be done. The Service is always in great demand so this
initial contact is essential. Please telephone with any queries. Although the service is free the Service does ask for cassettes, 'Articles
for the Blind' labels as well as the book or magazine to be read - and a
modicum of patience.
