ALLERGY INDUCED AUTISM
SUPPORTAround 91 in 1000 children and adults have an autistic spectrum disorder. It
is four times as common in boys as in girls. The symptoms usually become
apparent during the first three years of life. Some parents have noticed that
common foods or household chemicals seem to make the behaviour of their
autistic children worse. Scientific research is being done in this area. AiA is a membership group of parents and professionals and a registered
charity. Annual membership is £10.00. AiA offers the following services
and activities. - Information pack and quarterly newsletter with the latest research
information.
- Telephone contact with other parents who really understand.
- Acts as a forum for the world's leading researchers in this field to
collaborate.
- Promotes and actively seeks funding for further therapeutic trials.
AiA also produces a factsheet on Allergy induced Autism, the organisation
and membership application form.
