ARISE - SCOLIOSIS
RESEARCH TRUSTARISE is a charity which had its origins in 1986 when four British soldiers
ran in the Munich marathon and donated their sponsorship monies to the
scoliosis unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore. Since that
time many others have organised fund-raising events to raise money for the
unit. Because of the overwhelming support not only from parents of young
scoliosis sufferers but also from others who were only just learning of the
condition, a Trust based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital was set up
by some parents and surgeons involved in treating scoliosis. Aims- To provide and promote by all available means the research and study of
the cause and treatment of scoliosis and other spinal deformities and to endow
research fellowships in the study of these disorders.
- To improve the standard of knowledge of the means of prevention, diagnosis
and treatment of these disorders.
- To promote the publication, production and distribution of books,
pamphlets, periodicals and videos on spinal deformities.
- To improve and extend facilities within the Scoliosis Unit.
ARISE can provide a range of comprehensive informative leaflets about
spinal deformity. Contact ARISE for a full list of publications.
