EPILEPSY ACTION

Epilepsy Action was founded in 1950, and is the leading charity concerned with improving the quality of life for people in the community with epilepsy.

Aims

The association aims to:

  • provide information to anyone with an interest in epilepsy
  • improve the understanding of epilepsy in schools, and raise educational standards
  • help people with epilepsy to lead healthy, active lives, unhampered by their condition
  • help people with epilepsy to have a fair chance of finding and keeping a job
  • provide support for people with epilepsy and those who care for them
  • raise standards of care through contact with doctors, nurses, social workers, government, and other organisations

It has a network of 150 branches in most parts of the UK. Each offers support to local people and raises money to help the charity.

Literature and videos

The association has an extensive range of booklets and video material available (for purchase or hire), covering many different aspects of epilepsy.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone. As a member, you receive the quarterly magazine "Epilepsy Today", benefit from the BEA's insurance scheme, and are welcome to join in the activities of your local group.
