 | BRAINWAVE |
Brainwave provides long term support to children and adults suffering from
all forms of brain injury by offering the following services: - Designing home-based programmes of rehabilitation, involving both physical
and cognitive exercises.
- Advising parents and carers about appropriate mainstream and voluntary
support groups.
- The Centre provides short-term residential programmes of rehabilitation for
those who have suffered a stroke (CVA). Respite care can also be provided if
required.
Families attend the Centre for a two day assessment when the client's
current abilities are assessed, the methods explained and the parents or carers
taught the techniques which will form the basis of the client's individual
programme. Reassessments take place every four to six months. This therapy is
designed to be complementary to other forms of mainstream medicine and
education and not to replace it. There is accommodation on site for visiting families who come from all over
Great Britain and many other countries also. There are no fees paid for the
therapy/assessments. The cost is paid for by Brainwave. The charity recieves no
state funding and relies entirely on voluntary donations to support the costs.
Clients are therefore invited to make a voluntary donation to Brainwave. More
details are available on request.
