BRITISH ORGAN DONOR SOCIETY - BODY

Founded by a donor family, BODY acts as a self help support group for organ donor families, organ recipients and their families and those waiting for a transplant.

There is a 24 hour helpline in a private home - sometimes answerphone.

BODY also aims to promote the awareness of the need for and benefits of organ donation and transplantation and to provide information to enable those as yet uninvolved to make informed decisions and tell their family.

Several free information leaflets and the following books are available:

• The Gift of Life 1. An introduction to organ and tissue donation.
• The Gift of Life 2. A handbook for donor families.
• The Gift of Life 3. A handbook for kidney patients.

BODY also has an educational road show for schools and colleges.
