BRITISH THYROID FOUNDATIONThe British Thyroid Foundation is a registered charity, launched in 1992.
The principle aims of the BTF are to provide the sufferer and the medical
profession with information, to establish regional support groups and to raise
funds for research. The Foundation's work on behalf of the thyroid sufferer is carried out by
volunteers, some of whom themselves have thyroid problems, but who have made a
steady recovery and now wish to be actively involved in helping others. Some
volunteers are from the medical or other professions and they act as advisers.
Members also support the Foundation in many different ways - by contributing
newsletter articles, distributing posters, raising funds, setting up a local
support group, or simply by becoming a member. Every bit of help is
appreciated. BTF members receive the following: - Quarterly newsletters which include: articles by medical professionals on
various aspects of thyroid disease, case histories, information on local group
activities, letters and comments from members.
- A selection of information pamphlets.
- Details about thyroid books.
- Access to a medical advisory service
