BRITISH DSP SUPPORT GROUP

The British DSP Support Group aims to support sufferers of pelvic dysfunction, in particular Diastasis Symphysis Pubis which occurs during and/or after pregnancy and causes pelvic pain. The Support Group believes that DSP is not always diagnosed and that women should be better informed about pelvic and back pain during pregnancy. The Support Group's aims include the following.

  • To promote research into DSP and its allied disorders and to ensure the dissemination of such research.
  • To provide an organisation for the benefit and service of those with DSP and associated disorders.
  • To spread knowledge of the causes, alleviation and cure of DSP and its associated disorders to sufferers, the medical profession and the general public.

It provides the following.

  • Information on symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of DSP.
  • Information on easing the discomfort caused by DSP, including during labour and postnatally.
  • A birth plan to be passed to medical professionals at the onset of labour.
  • A protocol for managing the condition and appropriate action to take.
  • Membership for an annual fee.
  • Branches throughout the UK.
  • Regular newsletter.
