THE BRITISH SHNORING AND SLEEP APNOEA ASSOCIATION

The formation of the Association

The British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association was formed in 1991 to help the estimated 3,500,000 snorers and their sleeping partners to end the nights of disturbed and lost sleep, to end the bad feeling that often develops, and to help them return again to peaceful and restful nights together.

Until this National organisation was founded there was no centre for information on the subjects of snoring and sleep apnoea, nor anywhere for sufferers to get help and support from fellow sufferers, or guidance as to the way in which the medical profession can help. Having obtained a high media profile, we now receive calls and correspondence from all over the world with the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of these aggravating complaints.

Our aims

  • To promote public awareness that habitual snoring and sleep apnoea are generally treatable complaints and that help is available.
  • To provide information on causes.
  • To advise on remedies.
  • To give help and support to those affected by snoring and sleep apnoea.
  • To make available to members, books, written articles, papers, and audio and video recordings on the subjects.
  • To offer the public the opportunity to buy anti snoring and apnoea prevention devices and remedies, e.g., CPAP, mandibular advancement devices, nasal dilators, Somni Snore Guards, nasal sprays, etc.
  • To undertake and promote research into snoring and sleep apnoea. Donations to our research fund are always gratefully received. Better treatments are much in demand.
  • To petition Government and the NHS for better facilities and greater funding for this area of medicine.
  • To invite new members to join on an annual basis. To keep members in touch with snoring and sleep apnoea news by the publication of the periodicalSOUND ASLEEP NEWSLETTER.
