CHINESE MENTAL HEALTH
ASSOCIATIONThe Chinese Mental Health Association is a voluntary organisation and
registered charity set up to help Chinese people who are sufferers of mental
illness. The association aims to promote mental health education in the Chinese
community and to raise awareness amongst the mainstream healthcare providers
regarding Chinese mental health issues. The association aims to improve the
quality of life amongst Chinese mental health sufferers and their carers by the
following. - Helping them access services which are already provided through statutory
and voluntary organisations.
- Provision of Chinese services run by Chinese workers specifically for
mental health issues.
- Provision of mental health advice and information in Cantonese.
- Referrals to mental health agencies.
- Cantonese speaking counselling service (charge made for this service).
- Mental health assessment in Cantonese (charge made for this service; London
residents only).
The association publishes a book: 'The Chinese Mental Health Book' written
by a number of health and care professionals on perspectives in delivering
health care service to Chinese clients and on promoting and raising awareness
of issues affecting Chinese mental health service users.
