 | CMT INTERNATIONAL UK |
CMT International UK was established in 1986, and is the support group for
those people who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (also known as Peroneal
Muscular Atrophy, and Hereditary Motor and Sensory Neuropathy), and their
families. A service of support, advice, and information is offered to all members and
their families. All committee members are contactable by phone, and all have
answering machine facilities. Money is raised for research, both by the
organisation and individual members. Leaflets, both about the condition and the organisation, are available. A
quarterly newsletter is produced, and a subscription is asked for (£8.00
individual, £14.00 family, membership - as at February 1999). An Annual General Meeting is held each year. This is usually combined with a
mini-conference, when there are speakers and/or workshops. The venue is moved
around the country in order to try to give as many members as possible the
opportunity to attend.
