represents the interests of people with a colostomy and which provides support,
reassurance and practical in formation to anyone who is about to have a
colostomy, or who already has a colostomy. It is a unique service which is provided by BCA, as only people who have a
colostomy and have the necessary experience and skilis to inspire and help
others are enlisted to assist in our work. They do not counsel but have the
training and ability to give practical support and encourage ment and give only
non-medical information. It is the added benefit of being able to speak to someone who is expert in
living with a colos tomywhich providesyou withthe livingproofthat it is
possible to return to a full and active life. A Phone and Letter Helpline is an important part of the BCA service and a
helpful range of advisory literature is also readily available on request. Membership is by simply registering on our strictly confidential register

it ensures that you are not forgotten, and that you receive newsletters and
regular up to date informa tion. By registering you are also helping to main

are available to assist with training 3nd maintain contact with Head Office. We are sometimes asked if we organise regular self-help group meetings, but
we do not do this formaliyaswefind itmoreacceptableforourarea Organisers to
arrange Open Day meetings where you can meet us and other people, and view the
