 | CHILDREN WITH AIDS CHARITY (CWAC) |
Children with Aids Charity (CWAC) was conceived in 1992 within the
Paediatric Department of St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. The founders were a
small group of healthcare professionals and parents who became increasingly
aware of the acute shortage of services for children infected and affected by
HIV and AIDS. CWAC aims to help the youngest of those infected and affected by
HIV and AIDS to lead as near normal a life as possible by providing the
following services. - Hardship Fund to help alleviate the financial problems faced by families.
- Dippy Duck Appeal to subsidise days out, respite care and much-needed
family holidays.
- Transport Service to help children keep hospital appointments or to ship
families to them when theyre on the wards. (This service is currently only
available at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington.)
- Education to promote awareness amongst children of all ages about the facts
and fallacies surrounding HIV and AIDS issues, and to combat fear and
prejudice.
- Events to raise funds and give paediatric HIV and AIDS a more prominent
media profile.
