DAISY NETWORK

The Daisy Network (previously known as the Daisy Chain) is a support group for women suffering PREMATURE MENOPAUSE - that is, a menopause before the age of 40. This condition affects 1% of women. In Britain currently, approximately 110,000 women between the ages of 12 and 40 are experiencing premature menopause.

Premature menopause (also known as Premature Ovarian Failure) describes the process by which the ovaries cease to produce eggs. This process is characterised by high levels of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and luteinising hormone, and low levels of oestrogen and progesterone. This condition raises many issues including the effect on the woman's physical health, her fertility and psychological well-being.
