EYECARE INFORMATION SERVICE

The Eyecare Information Service (EIS) is the optical profession and industry's public relations and promotional organisation. Voluntarily funded by both the optical industry and the profession, EIS is an impartial organisation dedicated to promoting the importance of good optical health, an interest in eye wear and improved awareness of modern optical technology.

EIS offers advice and information to the media and the general public. Over 250 enquiries are dealt with each week. A range of information leaflets is published by the service. The work of EIS is supported across the country by a network of specially trained regional media contacts who can provide local comment for journalists.

EIS was formed in December 1993 by the merger of the Eye Care Information Bureau and the Optical Information Council.
