The Herpes Viruses Association-SPHERE (HVA) was formed to provide
information on herpes viruses to the media, health professionals and the
public. It offers advice to people with herpes virus conditions and helps
individuals who are troubled by a diagnosis of herpes simplex. The HVA has a
24-hour helpine enabling callers to benefit from talking to others who have
experienced the condition. Individuals may come to the office for individual
counselling. Subscribers to the HVA receive the following. - Ten information sheets, including: Information on Herpes simplex virus,
Boost your immunity, Understanding your anxieties.
- SPHERE, the HVA's quarterly journal.
- A Diary of get-togethers, seminars and workshops held by the HVA.
- Publications list, including factsheets at 25p each on the following:
pregnancy and childbirth, talking to partners, summary of tips to prevent
recurrences, lysine-arginine diet, homeopathy, report on the trial of Elagen,
shingles, cold sores and other leaflets. Back copies of SPHERE.
- Callers can be put in touch with a local contact if they wish.
Please send a stamped addressed envelope for full details. (All mail is sent
out in plain envelopes.) The HVA also has a 19-page information pack on shingles (herpes zoster).
