ICHTHYOSIS SUPPORT GROUP AimsThe Ichthyosis Support Group (ISG) was founded in March 1997 by a group of
determined individuals who either suffer from ichthyosis themselves, or who
care for children who suffer with it. We have a Medical Advisory Board (MAB) to
assist with the production of literature and to answer any medical questions
that the group receives. As the group develops, ultimately we hope to raise funds for supporting
research into ichthyosis. We issue all our members with a quarterly newsletter
consisting of information, including any recent developments, a question and
answer section, and personal stories. We also run a pen pal scheme through the newsletter, to encoursge ichthyosis
sufferers to make contact with others in a similar situation to themselves. We
produce an information pack, with literature on various forms of ichthyosis and
skin care tips. The groups main aims, are to raise awareness of this debilitating skin
condition, as well as to create a positive, supportive network of parents,
families and health care professionals, in order to share ideas, experiences
and give emotional support.
