INSTITUTE FOR
COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINEThe Institue for Complementary Medicine (ICM) is a registered charity /
foundation (Charity Number 326258) that was formed in 1982 to provide the
public with information on Complementary Medicine. As part of that programme, it has initiated a research project to develop
ways to control, regulate and research all the different disciplines and
techniques in ways that protect the qualified practitioners and ensure safety
of the general public. The ICM administers the BRITISH REGISTER OF COMPLEMENTARY PRACTITIONERS
which has 18 autonomius Divisions. The ICM has formed 18 Councils to provide Registers and teaching
institutions with a forum within which to discuss matters of mutual interest -
especially National Occupational Standards and research. The ICM has a sister Charity The BRITISH COUNCIL OF COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE. Through the offices of the ICM the general public can:- - Obtain lists of practitioners of all types of Complementary Medicine who
have proved to be qualified and safe to practise on the general public.
- Obtain names of courses in Complementary Medicine which will enable them if
successful to obtain a recognised qualification that will qualify them to join
the National Register of Complementary Medicine - the British Register of
Complementary Practitioners.
