LA LECHE LEAGUE (GREAT
BRITAIN)La Leche League is an international charity with over 2300 groups meeting in
60 countries. It is the source and repository of the world's most complete,
accurate and up to date collection of information on breastfeeding. La Leche
League (Great Britain) was established in the 1970s and has over 160 leaders
and some 90 groups. La Leche League's activities include the following. - Mother-to-mother support through local groups and counselling including
regular discussion meetings on various aspects of breastfeeding and related
parenting issues. Babies and small children are welcoome.
- Telephone counselling when a mother contacts a leader.
- Correspondence with mothers who contact the above address.
- Information is available to mothers, health professionals, leaders and
members through books, leaflets, tapes and Braille programme.
La Leche is also involved in training and leader support, a peer counsellor
programme, public relations and professional liaison.
