LET'S FACE IT - NETWORK FOR THE FACIALLY DISFIGURED

Let's Face It is an international mutual help organisation dealing with facial disfigurement. It is dedicated to helping those who are facially disfigured, their loved ones, the professionals who care for them, and the communities in which they live, to understand and solve the problems of living with this disability. The aims of the organisation are as follows.

  • To offer the hand of friendship on a one-to-one basis.
  • To link families, friends and professionals.
  • To assist people with facial disfigurement to share their experiences, struggles and hopes.
  • To help them build the courage to face life again.
  • To provide continuing education to medical, nursing, and allied health professionals concerning the lifelong need of people with facial disfigurement.

Let's Face It produces a regularly published newsletter which is sent free to all members of the network. It contains news from the regions, reports of meetings, anecdotes and items from individual members, recipes and tips as well as updates on current medical approaches and advances and advice from doctors and technicians. Publications available from Let's Face It include the following (the organisation also has a list of other useful publications).

  • A Different Dimension, Adapting to Monocular Vision

Junior Let's Face It, with the same contact details as above, is dedicated to helping children who are facially different, their loved ones, the professionals who care for them and the communities and schools in which they live.
