 | MENINGITIS RESEARCH FOUNDATION |
The Meningitis Research Foundation is fighting to prevent death and
disability resulting from meningitis by the following. - Actively working with families affected by meningitis.
- Raising funds for research into its prevention and treatment. The
Meningitis Research Foundation is the only major UK charity which focuses
solely on the funding of vital scientific research and public awareness
programmes as a means to combat meningitis.
- Striving to increase public awareness of meningitis. The Foundation
produces the following public awareness leaflets: 'Meningitis & Septicaemia
- Am I At Risk?', 'Meningitis & Septicaemia - Symptoms Chart', 'Meningitis
- Get it Sussed' as well as information for GPs and hospital staff.
- Promoting a better understanding of the disease amongst health
professionals and policy and decision makers.
The 24 hour helpline provides information for those concerned about the risk
of meningitis. The helpline is staffed by experienced individuals who have
first hand knowledge of meningitis, or work closely with families affected by
the disease.
