NATIONAL CENTRE FOR CUED SPEECHThe National Centre for Cued Speech promotes the use of Cued Speech;
provides information about Cued Speech and its use; runs awareness days and
training courses in Cued Speech and conducts certified examinations. Cued Speech gives an exact visual representation of spoken language at the
same time as normal speech. The deaf can then see spoken language in exactly
the same way as hearing people hear it. This helps deaf children to develop
their inner language and improve literacy, lipreading and speech. It can also
help the deafened communicate in English and D-deaf people who want to improve
their English. In addition it can be effective in helping hearing people with
speech and language difficulties. It can be used with an aural approach or in
addition to sign language. The Centre will provide basic information to enquirers and has for sale
books about Cued Speech and instructional videos. Please telephone for further
information.
