OPSIS (THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION, TRAINING AND SUPPORT OF BLIND AND PARTIALLY
SIGHTED PEOPLE) Opsis is a group of eight independent charities who work together to enhance
the lives of visually impaired people. Contact Opsis for further information or
details of the eight partners. Opsis' aims are as follows: - To exert influence on policymakers by using the added leverage arising from
jointly pursued collective policies.
- To raise standards and improve the quality of services through closer
working links with partners.
- To enable partners to counter effectively adverse market trends by sharing
information, analysing contributory factors and developing joint strategies.
Opsis' activities include the following: - Developing standards for housing services.
- Improving support for visually impaired people seeking work.
- Contribution to the Government's initiative on literacy.
- Consultation with Government on educational issues.
- Training staff who work with visually impaired children and young adults.
