CHROME ALLERGY
If allergic to chrome there may be many sources of chrome which may allow
your skin problems to continue. It is often found in cheap nickel- or
cobalt-containing metals.
At home, you should avoid:
- most shiny metallic-containing objects (stainless steel is not dangerous)
- some detergents
- yellow paint
- shoe polish
- artificial flowers
- bleach
- wood ash
- fly paper
Avoid the following personal items:
- chrome-tanned leather (e.g. gloves, shoes, hat bands, wallets, purses,
handbags)
- matches
- green baize (i.e. snooker tables)
- green pigment in tattoos
- chrome-cobalt dentures
At work, avoid:
- cement
- plaster (set concrete is not dangerous)
- oil and cooling system additives
- cutting (suds) oils
- engraving solutions
- laundry bleaches
- anti-corrosive paint (yellow and rd for rust protection)
- mordant in dyeing textiles, woods, and furs
- cleansers for laboratory glassware
