HYPERHIDROSIS

Instructions for use of aluminium chloride hexahydrate (anhydrol forte or driclor)

  • ensure that the areas of skin to be treated are completely dry
  • do not shave armpits or use a hair-removing preparation within 24 hours, either before or after treatment
  • do not apply to broken or irritated skin
  • apply Anhydrol Forte or Driclor at night, just prior to going to bed and wash off thoroughly in the morning
  • take care to avoid the preparation coming into contact with clothing, linen, jewellery, metal or polished surfaces

Use the preparation for two nights in succession, followed by a rest period of two nights with no application. This alternating two-night treatment cycle should be used to assess your own individual response, and it may be necessary to increase or decrease the usage to control your condition. Some patients manage on 1 to 2 treatments per week once the condition is under control.

Some transient irritation and redness normally accompanies a reduction in sweating. However, should this irritation become excessive, stop treatment and if necessary consult your doctor. Any mild irritation can be treated with Hydrocortisone 1% ointment or cream, and treatment with the preparation can then be resumed once the reaction has settled. You will be given some Hydrocortisone 1% when you receive the prescription for the Aluminium Chloride Hexahydrate as a mild irritation is inevitable.
