POSSIBLE CONTENTS FOR A TRAVEL FIRST-AID KIT/MEDICAL SUPPLIES

  • Paracetamol/ibuprofen or other analgesic.
  • Bandages, adhesive tape, gauze/wound dressings.
  • Scissors, safety pins, tweezers, pen-knife.
  • Diarrhoea treatment (adults only).
  • Oral rehydration preparation.
  • Sunscreen - high protection factor (e.g. x 25).
  • Antihistamine (cream and/or tablets).
  • Water purification tablets/equipment.
  • Emergency dental kit.
  • Insect repellent containing DEET.
  • Motion sickness medications.
  • Thermometer.
  • Travel-related prescription drugs (where indicated):
    - antimalarial drugs - standby and prophylactic
    - broad-spectrum antibiotic (for travel to remote areas)
    - emergency kit for severe allergy.
  • Sterile kit (needles, syringes, sutures, IV cannula).
  • Condoms/contraceptives.
  • Sanitary supplies.
  • Antiseptic/iodine tincture 2% (wounds/water purification).
  • Topical antibiotic/antifungal powder.
