THE PILL & ANTIBIOTICS

When given a prescription for antibiotics the following advice should be heeded with regards to your contraceptive pill:
  1. Extra contraceptive precautions should be used whilst you are taking the antibiotics and for 7 days after you finish the antibiotic course.
  2. If when you finish your antibiotics there are less than 7 pills in your packet you should start taking the next pack straight away and not have the 7 day break - this may mean that you don't have a proper bleed - that is OK.
  3. If when you finish your antibiotics there are 7 or more pills left in the packet then take them as normal.
  4. For all the above you should use extra precautions for the 7 days following the end of your antibiotic course as explained in 1 above.
  5. The only exception to the above rule is those ladies using "ED" pills. These are normal pills with an extra 7 fake pills in the packet so that you take a pill every day with no 7 day break. For you the following applies: Take extra precautions during the course of antibiotics and for 7 days afterwards. If there are less than seven pills in your packet after the antibiotics carry on taking them as normal but use extra precautions for 14 days.
